We're ready to recycle, reuse, and practice sustainable sewing techniques with you! It's quite a weekend - and here are the details:
Sustainable Mending Demo with Janet 1-2PM Friday and 11-12AM Saturday (Free)
Learn to reattach buttons, repair small holes with patches, and stitch your favorite clothing back into shape!
In-Store Patchwork Bag Scrap Demo Friday 4-5PM (Free)
Team Member Emmy has been busy sewing a ’70s-inspired bag using some of our new vinyl fabrics—made entirely from reused scraps!
Zero Waste Top Workshop Friday 5:30–8 PM ($75)
Get all the info on how to make The Janet Celeste Zero Waste Top, designed to use an entire piece of fabric with little to no waste. This clever pattern includes a neckline template but no traditional pattern pieces.
Next Gen Stitchers Meeting Friday 5-7PM (Free)
Come meet other makers (ages 10-17) in the community - you're invited! This is the first event which will kick off more opportunities for young sewists to connect and sew in-store.
Welcome to the Vintage Vault Saturday 2-4PM ($10)
A first-look preview of our most coveted vintage inventory — fabrics, buttons, notions, patterns and more, sourced from the 1900s through 1950s. These pieces won't last and they won't be available anywhere else before this event. Take home a curated set of 10 vintage buttons (yours with entry ticket), a history presentation and a numbered drawing for pick order on limited pieces. This $10 supports supplies for our Next Gen Stitchers Initiative—providing young sewists with materials and tools for their projects.
Zero Waste Trouser Workshop (2–5 PM) Saturday ($75)
Janet will instruct you through this smart “zero-waste” design that uses just one pattern piece—the pocket. The pants are constructed from simple rectangles to minimize fabric waste.
Vintage Machines + Community Sew Saturday 5:30-8:00PM ($40)
This session begins with a focused introduction to our vintage machines — how they work, what makes them unique, and how to confidently sew on them. You’ll get guided, hands-on time to test them out and learn their quirks. In the second half, we’ll transition into a relaxed community sew.
