Description

Quick Summary:

Let’s be honest: the biggest barrier to using a serger is the dread of threading it. The Janome AirThread 2000D Professional changes the game entirely with its one-push blast air threading system. With a simple push of a lever, a blast of air shoots the thread perfectly through the upper and lower loopers. No more tiny tweezers and no more frustration when you want to switch thread colors for a new garment.
But this machine is more than just a cool threading trick; it is a powerhouse for garment sewing. Whether you are whipping up cotton spandex leggings, finishing the seams on a delicate woven dress, or powering through bulky French terry, the AirThread 2000D delivers the smooth, professional edges you see in ready-to-wear clothing.

Best for:

  • Garment & Apparel Sewists: Anyone looking to construct knit garments or professionally finish woven seams.
  • Activewear & Swimwear Makers: Perfect for handling highly elastic fabrics and stretch knits.
  • The Frustrated Serger Owner: If you avoid your current serger because threading it makes you want to pull your hair out, this is your upgrade.

Why we Love it:

We are all about making garment sewing joyful and accessible. We chose the AirThread 2000D because it completely eliminates the technical intimidation of sergers. It allows our community to focus on creating beautiful clothes instead of spending time fighting with looper threads. With its sturdy construction and quiet operation, it is an absolute joy to use.

Key Features:

  • Effortless Setup: Between the air-threaded loopers and the built-in needle threader, you can thread this machine easily and get right to sewing.
  • Flawless Knit Handling: The specialized 8-piece feed dog system and adjustable differential feed ensure your stretchy fabrics feed evenly without stretching or puckering.
  • Quick Rolled Hems: A built-in 2-thread converter and quick-change rolled hem feature make finishing delicate edges a breeze.

Specifications:

  • Machine Type: 4/3/2 thread overlocking serger.
  • Maximum Speed: Up to 1,300 Stitches Per Minute (SPM).
  • Threading System: Air threading system for loopers and a built-in needle threader.
  • Feed System: 8-piece feed dog system.
  • Differential Feed Ratio: 0.5 to 2.0.
  • Stitch Length: 1.0mm to 5.0mm.
  • Cutting Width: Adjustable from 3.3mm to 7.5mm.
  • Presser Foot Pressure: 5-level adjustment dial.

FAQ:

  • Is it really that easy to thread? Yes! You simply insert the thread into the port and press the threading lever, and a blow of air pushes the thread right through the looper.
  • Can I use woolly nylon thread in this? Absolutely, woolly nylon is amazing for soft activewear seams, and you can easily use it in the upper and lower loopers.
  • Does it have safety features? Yes, the machine features a 3-location safety switch sensor for the looper cover, side cover, and presser foot so it won't run if things aren't locked in place safely.
Things to Know Before Buying:
  • This is a dedicated 4/3/2 thread overlocker, meaning it cuts, seams, and finishes edges. It does not do a coverstitch; if you need that function, you will want a dedicated coverhem machine like the CoverPro 2000CPX.
  • It uses standard household HAx1SP serger needles in sizes #11 to #14.
Closest Comparisons:
  • AirThread 2000D vs. MyLock 654D / FA4: While Janome’s mechanical sergers like the 654D are fantastic, reliable foundational machines, the AirThread 2000D represents a massive leap in convenience. Upgrading to the 2000D gets you the pneumatic air-threading system, a built-in needle threader, a much larger 8-piece feed dog system (compared to standard 4-piece), and a 5-level presser foot pressure dial for ultimate fabric control.

Why We Love it

Are your fabrics sold by the yard or half yard?

Everything's sold by the yard with a few exceptions.  Certain Ribbing & Quilting Cottons are sold by the half yard (but this is stated in the title).

What is your order processing time?

As of Feb 20th, we're zipping through orders in 2-4 business days! 🚀 Please be patient with fabric bundles though, these do take us just a little be longer since they are curated specially for you.

Just a heads up, though - during the holiday frenzy or after a mega sale like Black Friday, it might take up to 10 business days. We're on it, though, aiming to get those gorgeous fabrics in your hands within 5 days!

Do you Combine Shipping?

Absolutely! Place any orders within 3 business days of each other, and we'll snug them together. If they're further apart, just shoot us an email at bohofabrics@gmail.com, and we'll see what we can do. Any shipping overages will come back to you as a Boho Giftcard. 🎁

Do you Refund Shipping Overages?

Great News!  We now offer FREE SHIPPING for all orders over $175 within the Contiguous USA!  If your order is less than $175, we offer flat rate shipping for $12.95.  Due to our new Flat Rate Shipping policy, we do not refund shipping overages.

Can I cancel my order?

You bet, as long as we haven't printed that shipping label. We'll refund your order minus a 5% fee.

How much is Shipping?

For orders over $175, shipping's on us within the Contiguous USA! Orders under $175 have a flat rate of $12.95. Really big orders might need to bypass PO Boxes and head straight to a traditional address via UPS or FedEx.

*Excludes Shipping to PO Boxes, Alaska, Hawaii & Puerto Rico. Shipping overages will be invoiced to customers for packages being shipped to those regions.

What is your Return Policy?

Gotcha covered! If the fabric isn't quite what you envisioned, send it back within 14 days of receiving it, uncut and unwashed, for a refund

Please note that shipping costs are non-refundable as this is a cost incurred and not refunded to us by the carriers.

We recommend obtaining tracking for any returns you send as well as sending us an email so that we can be on alert for the package (and to process your return faster!)

Please send returns to:

Boho Fabrics LLC

14600 York Road, Suite J

Sparks, MD 21152

For any issues with quality or damaged fabric, please send an email to bohofabrics@gmail.com so that we can work on a resolution for you.

Do you offer local pickup?

Of course!  Select Pick-Up at check-out and we will send you an email/pick-up notification once it's ready.

Do you offer International Shipping?

Worldwide, baby! 🌍 Email us for a quote. It's a bit pricier, but we'll make sure you get the best rate possible. Just a note: Special deals including shipping might have extra charges for international orders.

* These are flat-rate equivalent estimates.  If fabric does not fit into the USPS Flat Rate boxes, customers will be billed shipping overages before their order ships.
