The Janome CoverPro 2000CPX is a dedicated coverstitch machine designed to give your homemade garments the neat, professional-looking finish found in ready-to-wear clothing. If you are tired of popping stitches or wavy hems when sewing knits with a standard twin needle, this machine is the ultimate upgrade. It features the innovative Seam Tightening System (STS) and Janome's exclusive Tension Level Control (TLC) system, allowing you to easily switch from heavy fabrics to sheer knits without puckering or tension issues.
A coverstitch machine is essential for the sewist looking to achieve a professional finish. The CoverPro® 2000CPX’s innovative design is based on the marriage of an industrial-style cover hem machine and a convenient home machine. The resulting union has produced a high-speed, long arm, heavy-duty cover hem machine that looks and operates like a sewing machine. With a wide trip cover hem stitch, exclusive free arm configuration, and Tension Level Control (TLC). The 2000CPX is the most advanced Cover Hem machine available.
- Garment Sewists & Apparel Makers: Essential for anyone who frequently sews clothing for themselves or their family and wants a high-quality finish.
- Activewear & Knit Sewists: Perfect for hemming highly elastic fabrics like cotton spandex, swim knits, and French terry.
- The Upgrading Maker: If you already own a standard sewing machine and an overlock serger, a dedicated coverstitch machine is the final tool needed for a professional dressmaking setup.
- Flawless Hems on Stretchy Fabrics: The differential feed ratio and Seam Tightening System ensure a tight, sturdy stitch that stretches with your fabric.
- Sewing Tubular Items: The unique free arm configuration makes it incredibly easy to hem small, tubular items like sleeve cuffs, necklines, and leggings.
- Transitioning Fabric Weights: The Tension Level Control (TLC) system automatically prevents puckering on thin, delicate fabrics with a simple switch.
- Machine Type: 1, 2, or 3 needle coverstitch machine.
- Stitch Capabilities: 1-needle, 2-thread chain stitch; 2-needle, 3-thread cover stitch; 3-needle, 4-thread triple cover stitch.
- Maximum Speed: Up to 1,000 Stitches Per Minute (SPM).
- Differential Feed Ratio: 0.5 to 2.25 for handling tricky stretch fabrics.
- Stitch Length: Adjustable from 1mm to 4mm.
- Stitch Width: 6mm (standard 2-needle), 3mm (narrow 2-needle), or 6mm (3-needle).
- Workspace: Extra-large 4” x 5.5” bed space with free arm capability.
- Included Extras: Comes with a dust cover and 4 cones of thread out of the box.
- Does this machine cut fabric? No, unlike a serger, a coverstitch machine does not have a cutting knife.
- Is it hard to thread? Not at part! The lower looper pops into view for easy threading, and the machine features a color-coded threading guide and a Quick Reference chart right on the front.
- Can I use a chain stitch for construction? Yes, the 1-needle, 2-thread chain stitch is incredibly strong and can be used for constructing seams in areas that require durability and stretch.
- This is a dedicated coverstitch machine, not an overlock serger. It does not have a cutting blade to trim fabric edges. It is used specifically for hemming, topstitching, and chain stitching after your garment seams have been constructed.
- CoverPro 1000CPX vs. 2000CPX vs. 3000P: The 2000CPX adds the Tension Level Control (TLC) system over the 1000CPX, which is a massive help for preventing puckering on lightweight sheer knits. However, if you want industrial-quality top cover hems (where the decorative looper thread shows on the top side of the fabric), a built-in needle threader, and heavy-duty ball-bearing driven motor shafts, you will want to upgrade to the premium CoverPro 3000P.
